Medical Transportation
Program Overview
The Medical Transportation (MT) Program helps eligible community members access medically necessary health services that are not available in Pinaymootang First Nation. Transportation assistance is provided in accordance with the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program policies.
Eligible Services
Medical transportation may be provided for:

Medical appointments and specialist visits.

Diagnostic tests and treatments.

Hospital services.
-
Addictions treatment.
-
Traditional healer services (when approved).

Other eligible NIHB services.
Transportation Benefits
Eligible clients may receive assistance with:

Ground or air transportation.
-
Meals and accommodations (when approved).
-
Approved medical or non-medical escorts.
-
Mileage reimbursement when the use of a private vehicle is pre-approved.
Transportation is provided to the nearest appropriate healthcare provider or facility using the most economical and efficient travel option.
Referrals and Appointments

Medical transportation must be approved before travel whenever possible.

A confirmed medical appointment is required.

Clients are expected to attend scheduled appointments or notify the appropriate office if they need to cancel or reschedule.
Emergency Travel
Coverage may be available for medically necessary ambulance or emergency air transportation when not covered by another health program.
