ACCREDITATION

The Accreditation Coordinator position was established in April, 2011 to oversee and implement the accreditation process.  The Health Centre is seeking accreditation status that will improve their programs and services for the membership of Pinaymootang. This simply means that the Health Centre is striving to make quality improvements in all aspects of health services in serving their people.
 
The Health Centre was first asked by the accrediting body, Accreditation Canada to complete a staff questionnaire which asked what areas in programming and services will need improvement. The results of the survey showed that some things need to be improved. This means that policies, procedures or guidelines must be in place to meet a certain standard. This is like saying, what needs to be done to ‘fix things and make it better’. In follow-up to the staff survey, a client survey was also done May/June of 2011 to assess the centre’s performance – the results showed that clients appear to be satisfied with services provided.
 
Besides developing policies, we have been assessing our programs and delivery of services, reviewing workplans, and finding ways to address gaps. Because we have found that a great deal of work is involved, we had to re-schedule the visit by the Accreditation Canada. The visit was originally scheduled for December.   
As we look at ways to improve, we been able to implement a number of changes some of which you may already notice or will notice in time at the Health Centre.
 
Please be assured that the Director of Health and the staff at the Health Centre are committed to ensuring that the people of Pinaymootang will receive quality services and programs. We are confident that upon receiving accreditation, Pinaymootang Health Centre will have respect and recognition from other health care providers within the health care system when providing health services to our people and our community.
